American scientists have recently successfully developed artificial blood, which will be used to treat wounded soldiers on the battlefield within five years.

The United States Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency, a research organization affiliated to the Pentagon, began the research and development project called "blood grafting" in 2008. Arteriocyte, Inc., which is responsible for the project, has sent the first batch of O-negative artificial blood samples to the US Food and Drug Administration for identification.
Scientists will conduct human trials on artificial blood after 2013 and use it on the battlefield within five years. All artificial blood types are O-negative and can be used to treat patients with any blood type.
