Strengthening the control of water quality is a necessary guarantee for seizing the high quality and high yield of pool fish. Adding water to fish ponds is the most direct, most effective, and most important measure for regulating the quality of fish ponds. In order to achieve the desired effect, the following points should be noted in the process of adding water:

Add water as appropriate. Add water according to weather changes, temperature, water quality, and other conditions. For common fish culture, water is added to the pond once every 10 days or so. If the weather is hot, the temperature is high, the water quality is too fat, or the weather is rainy or hot, the interval between adding water should be shortened.

Add water in the morning. Add water to the pond, preferably in the early morning. Because there is no light at night, the photosynthesis of phytoplankton in the pool water is stopped, and the breath of various organisms in the water body still needs to consume oxygen, and it will fall to the lowest value by 3-5 am. So, choose to inject new water into the fish pond in the early morning, and the effect of oxygen increase is most obvious. During the daytime, fish ponds are generally not suitable for adding water, because the photosynthetic phytoplankton in the pond water is vigorous during the day and there is sufficient dissolved oxygen in the water. At this time, water injection will not only increase oxygen but will cause dissolved oxygen to escape from the water.

Add live water. The water injected into the fish pond must be fresh, non-polluting, adequate in dissolved oxygen, and the temperature difference should not be too large. Generally, the temperature difference of the fry pond does not exceed 2°C, and the temperature difference of the fingerling pond does not exceed 5°C. When pumping water, the upper water of the water source should be extracted. Generally, the water suction pipe is inserted into the water surface about 30 centimeters. Such shallow water has low organic matter content, high dissolved oxygen content, and similar water temperature to the pool water temperature. After being injected into the pond, it will be beneficial to the growth and development of the fish.

Filling method is appropriate. Before adding water, the original pool water in the bottom part of the pond should be drained, then the new water should be injected, and the water inlet should be filtered with a dense mesh to prevent the wild fish and enemy pests from entering the fish pond. When adding water, the injected new water should be flushed along the upper horizontal line of the pool water, which can promote the stirring of the upper water and increase the oxygen. Do not allow the water to fall from high places to prevent the bottom of sediments and humus from contaminating the water.

Appropriate amount of water. If the amount of water added is too low to achieve the purpose of adding water, the increase in the amount of water can make the density of plankton in the water lower, thereby affecting the feeding and growth of fish. Generally, the depth of water is preferably 20-30 cm. When the lack of oxygen in the pool occurs, or when the pool water is deteriorating, 1/2-1/3 of the original pool water should be released, and fresh water should be refilled.

Complement fertilizer and water. When the pond is filled with new water, the water quality is often weakened and the color of the water becomes lighter. Therefore, appropriate chemical fertilizers should be added in time to cultivate plankton, so that the pool water can remain “fat, live, tender, and cool”, and the transparency of the pool water can reach about 30 centimeters. To ensure the healthy and rapid growth of fish in the rich bait organisms and good water quality environment, in order to achieve the desired effect.
