In liquid operation, more than 1000 uL is called a large amount of liquid operation, 10 uL - 1000 uL is called a micro liquid operation, and less than 10 uL is called an ultra-micro liquid operation. Trace liquid handling is the most common range of liquid handling.

When a single liquid needs to be added to multiple sample tubes or containers, a conventional single-channel pipette can only add liquid to a single well. With eight or twelve pipettes, multichannel pipettes are limited by the hole spacing and can only be used with SBS standard plates. For high-throughput operations, the operation time of using a normal pipette is relatively long.
