5 days before eggplant planting should not be watered

Should the seedbed be watered before planting? In order to facilitate the slow seedling growth in previous years, the eggplant seedlings were watered on the seedling bed 2 to 3 days before the colonization, so that the water supply in the matrix was sufficient, and the eggplant roots grew vigorously, but when the transplanted seedlings were rooted, they were greatly damaged and easily infected. The author believes that eggplant is not suitable for watering 5 days before planting.

First of all, due to the good growth of the eggplant seedlings in the matrix and the strong root activity, watering will result in a large amount of root growth, so that the root system grows easily from the water-permeable hole at the bottom of the nutrition cup and falls under the cup bottom soil. When the seedlings are transported, a large number of roots are broken, affecting the slow seedlings of the eggplant, and the resulting wounds are also likely to cause invasion of soil-borne diseases, resulting in aggravation of root diseases of the eggplant.

Second, it is not conducive to slow seedlings. Root absorption of water and nutrients is mainly accomplished by root tips. Watering before planting resulted in large root growth, tender roots, and a large number of root tips at the time of colonization, which could seriously affect the ability of roots to absorb water and prolong the seedlings after planting.

Third, watering the eggplant within five days before planting the eggplant increases the moisture content of the substrate, increases the weight of the nutrient cup, and increases the labor intensity of handling the eggplant seedlings.

Therefore, the vegetable farmer is reminded not to water the eggplant bed 5 days before the planting.
