Autumn silkworm management technology

Jamsil was completely sterilized. Five to seven days before raising silkworms, it's essential to thoroughly disinfect both the silkworms and their environment. Begin by cleaning the inside and outside of the rearing area. Remove all dirt, and if the area is in a room, scrape off the topsoil, replace it with fresh soil, and repeatedly water the ground to ensure cleanliness. All silkworms should be placed in running water for half a day, then washed thoroughly. Clean up silkworm droppings, dead silkworms, floating silk, and any stains. After washing, expose the silkworms to clean conditions, and apply appropriate disinfectants to prevent disease outbreaks. During Summer, regular disinfection is crucial. Use disinfectant No. 1 for each stage of silkworm growth to prevent diseases. If a viral infection occurs, spray fresh lime powder 1–2 times daily. For stiff disease, apply anti-static powder once a day. Always wash hands before feeding leaves and after removing sand, and change shoes when entering the rearing room. Promptly remove sick or weak silkworms to avoid cross-infection. Disinfect the area every 1–2 days using appropriate chemical agents. The mulberry and rearing rooms should be regularly sprayed with a 3% effective bleach solution. After selling the cocoons, sprinkle fresh lime powder on the floor, spray formalin, or fumigate the room, then clean and disinfect thoroughly. For small silkworms, careful selection is key. Choose suitable plots, individual plants, twigs, and leaves, and store them properly to keep the mulberry leaves fresh. Select experienced sericulture households for co-education. Small silkworms grow quickly, so ensure timely expansion, symmetry, and adjustments. Pay attention during resting periods: make sure they have enough food before sleeping, manage them well during rest, and feed them at the right time. If silkworms are not fully developed, start feeding in batches to avoid hunger. Keep the environment quiet during sleep to prevent strong winds from affecting their molting process. Improve heating methods, especially during mid to late Autumn. Raise indoor temperatures to protect silkworms from harmful gases. Implement small silkworm anti-bed breeding and use temperature-controlled electric systems. Combine thermal stacking with Taiwan-style education. During the silkworm stage, add 5–10% fresh lime powder mixed with anthracite, mix with a little water to form briquettes, or use a closed furnace to avoid hydrogen sulfide poisoning. Improve ventilation by installing north-south convection windows. Maintain an airflow rate of at least 0.5 meters per second inside the rearing area to reduce disease incidence. Perform timely sand removal: no sand removal in the first instar, one removal during the second instar, two removals during the third instar, and three removals during the fourth instar. In the fifth instar, remove sand once daily. Before each sand removal, feed the silkworms with caramelized or lime-treated leaves until most of the waste is cleared. Adjust the silkworm beds accordingly.
