British and American scientists develop new hens to lay anti-cancer drug eggs

Researchers in Britain and the United States have recently used genetic engineering to develop a new type of hen. The hens produce eggs containing a large amount of anti-cancer substances that can be used to treat malignant melanoma. According to Reuters on June 3, Oxford Biomedical, a British company engaged in gene therapy research, announced that the results demonstrated how people can use the “bioreactor for pharmaceutical manufacturing” to obtain other drugs. Oxford Biomedical Company issued a statement on the 3rd that the "breakthrough" result was derived from cooperation with two other organizations, namely, American Wiragen Co., Ltd. dedicated to bird research and the introduction of cloning. Dolly is famous for its Scottish Roslin Institute. In the statement, the company believes that "through this cooperation, people have for the first time selectively produced a potential therapeutic protein in the egg white protein. This technology is expected to provide a wide range of protein drug production. An alternative, low-cost manufacturing method, which also allows the product to have potential advantages in quality."
