How to prevent and treat cucumber damping-off

Cucumber damping-off is the main disease of cucumber during seedling stage. The nursery period is the most common in the protected area, especially when the temperature is low and the soil moisture is high. This can cause bad seeds, rotten buds, and seedlings to stumble.

After the onset of seed germination to the seedlings before the unearthed victim, resulting in bad species, rotten buds. When the seedlings were unearthed, the base of the stem showed water-stained yellow lesions, followed by yellowish-brown, and the contractions were linear and lodging. Diseases developed rapidly. The cotyledons had not yet withered, and the seedlings suddenly fell to death. When the humidity is high, a white cotton floe grows on the soil surface of the diseased area and its surroundings. In the late stages of growth, the squash was damaged, and large spots of water stains appeared on the squash. In severe cases, the melon rotted and the surface grew a layer of white floc.

In the low temperature, high humidity, the soil contains many organic matter, the application of unfamed manure, etc. are conducive to disease. Poorly ventilated seedbeds, lack of light, and high humidity are not conducive to the growth and development of seedling root systems, and can easily induce the occurrence of damping-off.

For prevention and control, choose land plots with high topography, low groundwater level, and well-drained water as the seedbed, use disease-free new soil, pond soil or rice paddy soil, and do not use old seedbed soil, vegetable garden soil or garden soil with bacteria. Fill the bottom water before sowing, try not to water after emergence, must be sprayed on sunny days. Use rapid seedlings to avoid the appearance of low temperature, high humidity environmental conditions. In areas with heavy fruit incidence, sorghum should be used to prevent accumulation of water after rain. After the cucumber is planted, watering should be less in the early stage, and more cultivators should be used. 15 days before sowing, loosen bed soil, spraying 40% of formalin stock solution per square metre, 30 ml, add 2 to 4 liters of water, and cover the film after spraying for 4 to 5 days after uncovering. In the early stage of seedling disease, spray 72.2% Preclosure 400 times solution, 64% antivirus WP 500 times, or 70% dexamethasone 800 times, or 25% Serratia 600 to 800 times, or 58% of toxic MnZn 600 solution. Spray once every 7 to 10 days.
