Mushroom sowing time management skills

1. Sowing Period. Yangshuo should be cultivated in advance, and covered with plastic film in May. The exact sowing time depends on the temperature, with a general requirement of stable temperatures above 22°C before proceeding. If the temperature is too low, it's not advisable to sow. In northern and southern China, the typical sowing period falls around late May or early June, depending on local climate conditions.

2. Seeding Amount. For each square meter of Yangshuo, you can use 15 to 20 kg of rice straw or 15 to 25 kg of cottonseed husk. The amount of culture medium should be 6 to 8% of the total material weight, which translates to about 1.2 to 1.5 kg of bacterial inoculum per square meter. For the first cultivation, it’s recommended to increase the amount of bacteria slightly to ensure better success rates and healthier growth.

3. Seeding Method. Begin by laying a layer of rice straw or cottonseed husk at the bottom of the Yangshuo bed. Then, press it down firmly. Next, spread a ring of bacterial culture around the edges, followed by broadcasting the straw-based material in 3 to 5 cm layers. While adding these layers, you can also incorporate nutrients such as composted manure, cow dung, chicken manure, or cake powder to enrich the growing medium. Each subsequent layer should be placed 4 to 6 cm inward from the previous one, with bacteria applied around the edges. Typically, 3 to 5 layers are used for the culture material. If the temperature is lower, you can make the layers thicker; if it's warmer, they can be thinner. After completing the seeding, cover the bed with plastic film and a straw curtain immediately. Monitor temperature and humidity regularly, and maintain proper management throughout the growth cycle.

Proper timing, accurate seeding amounts, and careful layering techniques are essential for successful Yangshuo cultivation. These steps help create an ideal environment for the mycelium to grow and thrive, leading to a more productive and efficient farming process. Always keep an eye on environmental conditions and adjust your methods accordingly for the best results.
