Irrigation and protection
Under normal circumstances, the freezing damage of vegetables in greenhouses is mostly caused by water shortage. During the critical period of vegetable growth, clear weather is selected (temperature is above 20°C). Membrane submerged irrigation or drip irrigation is used to fill soil moisture and prevent freezing injury. This is because the specific heat of water is higher than that of air, heat is slow, the moisture content of the soil in the greenhouse is moderate, and the heat preservation performance is good. The root system of vegetable plants can be free from freezing damage.
