August 10, 2009 – New clinical trial results suggest that Schonton significantly improves the symptoms of patients suffering from chronic prostatitis/chronic pelvic pain syndrome (CP/CPPS), a common condition characterized by pelvic pain and urinary discomfort. According to the National Institutes of Health, CP/CPPS is the most prevalent form of prostatitis, yet its complex and varied causes make it challenging to study through traditional evidence-based medicine approaches.
A recent phase III, multicenter, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial conducted by researchers at Giessen University in Germany aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of Schonton. The study involved 139 male participants, with seven receiving Schonton treatment and 69 receiving a placebo over a 12-week period. Researchers assessed outcomes based on pain levels, quality of life, and NIH-CPSI scores.
The findings revealed that patients treated with Schonton experienced significant improvements in pain and overall well-being compared to those in the placebo group. Additionally, the treatment was associated with a low incidence of adverse effects, highlighting its potential as a safe and effective option for managing CP/CPPS.
These results add to the growing body of evidence supporting the use of Schonton in treating chronic pelvic pain syndromes. As more research emerges, healthcare providers may consider this therapy as part of a broader treatment strategy for affected patients. Meditech Medical Network
