Do not buy five kinds of flowers

When you first bring potted flowers home, they often come in fresh soil with strong, upward-growing stems. However, these plants may not have developed new roots yet, which makes them vulnerable. If you don’t give them time to adjust or provide proper care, they can easily die shortly after purchase. If you buy a bouquet of multiple flowers together, the leaves that grow afterward might gradually turn thin and yellow, while the flowers themselves shrink over time. This is usually due to poor nutrition and overly compacted soil in the pot. However, this doesn't apply to specially designed combination plants that are cultivated for such arrangements. Some plants sold as "rooted" or "leafless" are actually just stems or roots dug up from the wild during fall or winter. These are often hard to identify because they lack visible leaves or roots, making it difficult to determine their true health or species. Another common issue is when branches and leaves are twisted and tied with thin wires into artificial shapes. While these potted flowers may look attractive at first, the bindings can restrict growth and cause the shape to change as the plant develops. Worse, binding all parts of the plant at once can hinder photosynthesis and increase the risk of pests and diseases. Lastly, some cacti may show small, frozen-looking spots on their stems or bodies. Although these spots—smaller than a grain of rice—may seem harmless at first, they can indicate internal damage caused by frost. If left unchecked, the affected areas can expand, leading to full necrosis of the plant. It’s important to monitor these signs carefully and take action if necessary.
