Tomato cultivation snoring three notes

It is best to perform pruning during sunny and high-temperature hours in a day, as this helps reduce the risk of infection and promotes faster healing. In the morning, excessive blood flow caused by snoring can lead to nutrient loss, which may weaken the plant's recovery ability. At noon, when the temperature is higher, wounds tend to heal more quickly with less oozing. However, if pruning occurs after 4 p.m., the wounds are more likely to become infected at night due to cooler temperatures and increased bacterial activity.

Before pruning, it is essential to properly disinfect your hands and tools to prevent cross-infection. Human hands, especially those of smokers, often carry harmful bacteria such as the tobacco mosaic virus. If not fully disinfected, these pathogens can spread and cause serious infections. Therefore, make sure to clean your hands and scissors thoroughly with soapy water or an appropriate disinfectant. When pruning, be selective: start with healthy, disease-free plants first, then move to affected ones. Afterward, collect all debris and dispose of it properly—either by burying or cleaning up—instead of leaving it scattered around, which could attract pests or spread disease.

Many farmers mistakenly remove all defects from the base of the plant during pruning, but this approach can be risky. If a pathogen infects the plant, it can quickly travel through the wound into the trunk, causing severe damage. A better practice is to leave about 1 to 2 centimeters of the base intact when pruning. This small portion acts as a natural barrier, preventing bacteria from entering the trunk and also reducing the size of the wound, which speeds up the healing process. By following these steps, you can significantly improve the health and longevity of your plants.
