Open-air farming method
Open-air aquaculture can make use of farmland for snail cultivation. After plowing, the soil should be fine and well-prepared. Broad-leaved trees are often planted around the fields to provide natural shade, while nets are installed to prevent snails from escaping. In addition, the rooftop of a flat-roofed house can also be used for breeding. The soil on the roof should be at least 10 cm thick, and various types of grapevines can be planted around the area, covered with shade cloth. The surrounding area is also enclosed with a net to ensure safety. One of the main benefits of open-air farming is the fresh air and good humidity, which promotes rapid snail growth and reduces disease occurrence. It's important to water the soil regularly during dry periods to maintain moisture. During heavy rains, proper drainage must be ensured to avoid waterlogging. Additionally, measures should be taken to prevent predators such as birds, wild animals, and domestic pets. Having a large cat in the family can be particularly helpful in keeping these threats away.
Indoor farming method
Indoor aquaculture can be divided into two main types: flat culture and vertical (three-dimensional) culture. For flat culture, bricks are arranged to form raised beds about 25 cm high, covering an area of 2 to 3 square meters. A grid is placed on top of the bricks, and a layer of pine bark or similar material thicker than 10 cm is added for bedding. For three-dimensional culture, wooden boxes (about 25 cm high, depending on the required length) are built and placed on shelves. Each box is filled with loose soil more than 10 cm thick. This method is simple, cost-effective, and safe. Regular ventilation by opening doors and windows is essential. Temperature and soil moisture levels need to be monitored and adjusted as needed. The soil should remain clean, and overall hygiene inside the room must be maintained. A breathable net should be placed over the top to prevent snails from escaping.
Plastic greenhouse farming method
A suitable location for a plastic greenhouse is an open area measuring approximately 30 meters long and 6 meters wide. First, the soil is plowed, and a 30-cm-high wall is built around the perimeter. A plastic greenhouse is then constructed, with doors at both ends for easy access. The plowed land inside the greenhouse is prepared for snail cultivation. One of the key advantages of this method is the ability to easily control temperature and protect against natural predators. However, during hot seasons, additional shading should be provided to prevent excessive heat buildup and to maintain a stable environment. Proper management ensures that snails grow healthily and efficiently in this controlled setting.
