Red pomelo pomelo timely pruning and slow pruning affect the results

Pruning time: Over 96% of the orchard is pruned in mid-December according to the Gregorian calendar, while 4% of grapefruit trees are pruned in mid-January. In the mid-December pruning group, spring shoots began opening on February 7th, with 0.1% of buds opening, and by March 15th, 60% of new shoots had opened. On March 26th, 80% of the flowers were open, and by April 1st, all flowers were fully open. By April 2nd, the total flowering period lasted 18 days. For the mid-January pruning group, spring shoots started opening on February 18th, with new shoots appearing on March 11th and bud tips beginning to show. Most young flower buds were visible by that time. On March 26th, 80% of new leaves had opened, and 10% of buds were active. By April 7th, 100% of the flowers were open, and over 96% of the new leaves had also emerged. The total flowering period was 12 days. From the above comparison, it can be seen that: A) Grapefruit from the mid-December pruning group showed a higher fruit set rate from the start to the end of flowering. B) Grapefruit from the mid-January pruning group had a shorter flowering period and a lower fruit set rate. Regarding the Baohuabaoguo variety, in both Garden A and Park B, half of the fruits were left to observe the fruit set rate. It was found that trees pruned in mid-December had a higher fruit set rate, while those pruned in mid-January had a lower rate. The pruning time for grapefruit harvested before the "frost fall" period was between late November and mid-December. For grapefruit harvested after the "early winter," pruning occurred in mid-to-late December. Grapefruit harvested around the "winter solstice" grew more slowly, and the tree's vigor typically recovered within one week after harvest.
