Farming snail three methods

Open-air farming is a practical and efficient method that allows the use of farmland for aquaculture. After plowing, the soil becomes soft and easy to manage. Trees with broad leaves are planted around the fields, providing natural shade. These areas are enclosed with nets to prevent snails from escaping. In addition, flat rooftops can also be used for breeding. The rooftop should have loose soil at least 10 cm thick, and grapevines are often planted around the area, covered with shading structures. The surrounding space is also protected by nets. One of the main benefits of open-air farming is the good air circulation and humidity, which helps snails grow quickly and reduces disease occurrence. It's important to water the area regularly during dry periods to maintain moisture. During heavy rain, proper drainage must be ensured. Additionally, it’s crucial to protect the snails from predators such as birds, rodents, and even stray animals. Having a large cat in the family can be very helpful in keeping these threats at bay. Indoor farming methods offer two main approaches: planar and vertical culture. In planar breeding, bricks about 25 cm high are arranged on a grid within a room, covering an area of 2 to 3 square meters. A layer of pine bark thicker than 10 cm is placed on top of the grid to provide a suitable environment for snail growth. For vertical culture, wooden boxes (approximately 25 cm in height) are built and placed on shelves. Each box is filled with loose soil more than 10 cm thick. This method is simple, cost-effective, and safe. However, regular maintenance is required—doors and windows should be opened daily for ventilation, temperature and soil moisture levels must be monitored, and the soil should be kept clean. A breathable net should cover the top to prevent snails from escaping. Plastic greenhouse farming is another effective approach. A space measuring 30 meters long and 6 meters wide is chosen, then the soil is plowed and a 30-cm-high wall is built around the perimeter. A plastic greenhouse is then constructed, with doors at both ends. The ground inside is prepared for snail farming. This method provides better control over temperature and protects against natural enemies. However, during hot seasons, additional shading should be added to prevent excessive heat from affecting the soil and creating uncomfortable conditions for the snails.
