Techniques for fattening lambs with artificial milk

The artificial milk formula varies depending on the lamb's age. For lambs under 20 days old, it consists of 68% skimmed milk, 29% fat, and 3% phospholipids. From 20 to 40 days of age, the composition changes to 80% skimmed milk, 17% fat, and 3% phospholipids. This adjustment ensures that the nutritional needs of growing lambs are met at different developmental stages. In terms of additives, for every 1000 kg of artificial milk, the following components are included: 1.2 g of cobalt chloride, 20 g of copper sulfate, 0.3 g of potassium iodide, and 0.2 g of sodium selenite as trace elements. Mineral salts amount to 10 kg, along with 5 kg of bicarbonate. Vitamins are also added in specific quantities—20 million units of Vitamin A, 6 million units of Vitamin B, 2 million units of Vitamin E, 1.5 grams of Vitamin B1, 1.5 grams of Vitamin B2, 750 mg of Vitamin B6, and 1.25 grams of Vitamin B12. Additionally, 1 kg of lysine and 2 kg of methionine are included as synthetic amino acids to support muscle development. Bioactive substances such as 50 grams of chlortetracycline, 50 grams of enrofloxacin, and 70 grams of methylated hydroxytoluene are added to promote health and prevent disease. After weaning, fat lambs are initially fed 5 kg of green grass and 0.5 kg of concentrate per day. Starting from day 20 post-weaning, their diet is adjusted to 2.5 kg of mixed feed daily, consisting of 80% hay powder and 20% concentrated feed. This feeding strategy helps achieve an average daily weight gain of 173 grams, with each kilogram of weight gain requiring approximately 8.2 kg of feed. In large-scale sheep farming operations abroad, double-stitch barns can accommodate 3,000 to 5,000 lambs. These facilities feature a raised floor with gaps for waste to drop through, while a scraper conveyor transports pellet feed. A long-flowing water tank provides continuous access to clean drinking water. The lower floor is equipped with a scraper cleaning system to maintain hygiene. Lambs are typically weaned between 60 and 120 days of age, and after 76 days of fattening, they reach an average daily weight gain of 230 grams. At the end of the fattening period, their weight ranges from 34 to 40 kg, with a slaughter rate of 47.6%.
