The outlook for elderly patients over the age of 60 who undergo liver transplantation is generally positive. In an effort to better understand and improve the monitoring of medical device adverse events in Shanghai, a summary meeting was recently held by the Shanghai Adverse Drug Reaction Monitoring Center. The event, chaired by Dr. Du Wenmin, Executive Deputy Director of the center, aimed to review the achievements of 2007, identify current challenges, and explore future directions for the monitoring program. Representatives from the Medical Device Registration Office of the Shanghai Food and Drug Administration also attended the meeting.

During the meeting, the Shanghai Adverse Drug Reaction Monitoring Center provided a thorough and detailed review of the year's efforts in monitoring medical device adverse events. They not only highlighted the progress made but also identified key areas that needed improvement and proposed practical solutions. In addition, representatives from the Pudong, Baoshan, and Changning branches of the Shanghai Food and Drug Administration shared their experiences and best practices in managing medical device monitoring programs.

As part of the event, several training sessions were conducted to enhance participants' understanding of medical devices and their potential adverse effects. A particular focus was placed on cardiac pacemakers, with detailed discussions on how to recognize and report related adverse events. This meeting served as an important platform for knowledge exchange, collaboration, and continuous improvement in the field of medical device safety monitoring. ——Midi Medical Network
