In recent days, heavy rainstorms have swept across Conghua City, Longmen County, Boluo County, and Dongguan City, including areas in Zengcheng. 2. **Pond Disinfection**: Each mu of surface water should be treated with 100–150 kg of quicklime, which helps kill wild fish, neutralize acid, improve water quality, and increase pH. Additionally, 50 kg of tea bran can be used to break up stagnant water. Tea bran contains saponins that help eliminate wild fish and some parasites while enriching the water. It can also be combined with bleaching powder at a ratio of 3–4 kg per kilogram of water. After 4 hours, the entire pond is sprayed, achieving similar results.
3. **Water Fertilization**: During disinfection, 200–300 kg of fermented human feces or compost per acre can be added to promote plankton growth, enrich the water, and provide sufficient feed for fry. The ideal water clarity should be around 30 cm when fish are stocked.
4. **Reasonable Stocking**: Farmers should adjust stocking based on local conditions. In small ponds, it's recommended to stock about 600–800 carp (5–8 cm), 100 silver carp, 60 bighead carp, and 40 grass carp (15 cm) to meet market specifications by year-end. Larger ponds with better infrastructure and surface livestock can accommodate more seedlings.
5. **Fish Selection and Testing**: Only healthy, disease-free fish with consistent size and good behavior should be selected. Before releasing fish into the pond, a few test fish should be placed in bamboo rafts around the disinfected area. If they remain active after 24 hours, it’s safe to proceed. If they die, the pond must be retested until the chemicals have fully dissipated.
6. **Scientific Feeding**: Adjust feeding amounts according to the fish’s growth stage. During the fry stage, feed 8–10% of their body weight daily. During rough growth, reduce to 5–7%. Feed twice daily, with 40% in the morning and 60% in the afternoon. Monitor water temperature—between 20°C and 30°C, fish eat more. Avoid feeding during rainy days when fish may not eat due to low pressure.
7. **Strengthen Management**: Refresh water every two months, replacing 20% of the old water to maintain “fat, live, tender, and cool†conditions. Apply 20 kg of quicklime per acre every half month to regulate pH. Inspect the pond three times daily: observe fish movement and floating heads in the morning, feeding behavior at noon, and leftover food in the evening. Remove waste daily and monitor pH and transparency every 10 days.
8. **Timely Harvesting**: Many ponds are used for wintering fish, and although summer storms may slow growth, there is potential for a strong market in autumn. Plan harvests carefully, ensuring stable numbers and species to maximize economic returns in the coming year.
